UNCG students must formally apply to graduate during the beginning of the semester when they will finish their degree requirements. After applying to graduate, the University Registrar’s Office confirms that they have met all degree requirements and processes their information so they can receive an official UNCG diploma. At that time, undergraduate students will be designated as graduating with honors based on their academic performance.
Degrees are awarded three times per year – May, August, and December. All UNC Greensboro students are required to file an application at the beginning of the semester in which they plan to graduate.
After applying for graduation, students will go through a final set of degree audits conducted by the University Registrar’s Office in order to ensure they have met all the requirements to graduate from UNCG.
UNCG works with a third party vendor to print, package, and ship diplomas each semester to students who have earned a degree. The cost of the original diploma is covered by the graduation fee.
The designation of graduation with honors is available for undergraduate students. Honors designation is based on all courses (including the last semester’s work) for which grades and grade points are given.
The UNCG commencement ceremony is a formal, traditional, academic exercise – and a celebration! Learn more about the details of what to expect at the commencement ceremony here.
