Pre-Professional Interest Tracks

Pre-professional “Interest Tracks” (formerly administered as second majors) are an identification and advising tool here at UNCG. By selecting an interest track in the field of work you wish to pursue after graduation, the University can make sure to provide informational resources and assign an appropriate advisor that can assist you with preparation for and application to your post-graduate training program of choice.

This page will allow you to request to ADD, DELETE, OR CHANGE the interest track associated with your academic record.
BEFORE SUBMITTING A REQUEST, PLEASE CHECK YOUR DEGREEWORKS PAGE TO VERIFY ANY CURRENT INTEREST TRACK DESIGNATION THAT ALREADY EXISTS IN YOUR ACADEMIC RECORD. You can view your currently selected interest track in the right-hand column of the first data block of DegreeWorks. It will be listed beside the item titled “Pre-Professional Interests.”
- NOTE 1: If you have a pre-professional advisor assigned to you, that person will be listed under the name of your primary academic advisor in the left-hand column of the first data block in DegreeWorks. If you have a designated interest track but see only one advisor listed, it is likely that your primary academic advisor is also your pre-professional advisor.
To make a request, fill out the information below. Your request will be evaluated and fulfilled as soon as possible. You will be notified when your request has been completed.
- NOTE 2: All freshmen who select an interest track will not immediately be assigned a pre-professional advisor. Advisors are assigned to SO, JR, SR and Post-Bacc students only.
- NOTE 3: Adding, deleting or changing your interest track does not alter your requirements for graduation in any way. This is because interest tracks are not majors or minors and there is no specific curriculum associated with any interest track
